Integral Flourishing

Integral Flourishing: The Science and Spirit of Well-Being is a Ubiquity University course. The course consists of 15 modules and is organized around the central theme of "flourishing". For most people, the concept of flourishing is of great significance. Indeed, it is quite likely that you yourself strive to "flourish". But what exactly is this elusive phenomenon of "flourishing"? And what action can you take to flourish more often, both within yourself and in interaction with others?

Integral Flourishing: The Science and Spirit of Well-Being is a Ubiquity University course. The course consists of 15 modules and is organized around the central theme of “flourishing”. For most people, the concept of flourishing is of great significance. Indeed, it is quite likely that you yourself strive to “flourish”. But what exactly is this elusive phenomenon of “flourishing”? And what action can you take to flourish more often, both within yourself and in interaction with others?

In alignment with the three core components of the Ubiquity University learning system, the Integral Flourishing course focuses on three main areas of growth and development:

Academic Study – What is flourishing and why does it matter?

Throughout this course, you will be presented with a variety of scientific articles discussing the study of flourishing, or “well-being”, from psychological, sociological and philosophical viewpoints. Hormonal and neurological aspects of flourishing, or “happiness” in mammals will also be discussed. Integral Theory will serve as a meta-theoretical framework to make sense of existing contradictory perspectives on well-being.

As a participant, you are continually encouraged to use critical thinking skills to (1) analyse the statistical significance of research, (2) determine the effectiveness of interventions related to the promotion of well-being and (3) formulate your own definition of Integral Flourishing.

Self-Mastery – How can I positively influence my own well-being?

Scientific research into human flourishing has produced a large number of insights and practical interventions that we, as human beings, can draw upon to improve our individual and collective well-being, both subjectively and objectively.

The experiential aspects of the Integral Flourishing course are designed to teach you how to optimize your potential and live a happier, healthier and more meaningful life. Through exercise and reflection, you will learn how to, among other things, deepen self-insight, improve resilience, strengthen optimism and increase the frequency with which you experience constructive states of consciousness.

At the beginning of the course, you will formulate goals relevant to your self-development. During the course itself, you will learn techniques to concretely realize these goals, often in collaboration with one or more fellow students. Towards the end of the course, you will evaluate the progress you have made and formulate strategies to sustain achieved successes

Impact Projects – How can I work together with others to promote Integral Flourishing?

To encourage you to share your individual talents and insights with the greater collective of which you are a member, the Integral Flourishing course is designed to invite you to explore the three dimensions of I, We and Society.

I: Within the dimension of I, you explore how you can improve the quality of your own life.
We: Within the dimension of We, you explore how you can improve the quality of the lives of others you are in direct relationship with.
Society: Within the dimension of Society, you explore how you can promote Integral Flourishing to significantly improve well-being within human society.
In addition to being challenged at an academic, personal and societal level, you will also be invited to have a considerable amount of fun.
