Our western health dilemma continues to perpetuate fragmentation of the mind-body relationship
As our western health dilemma continues to perpetuate fragmentation of the mind-body relationship, there has never been a better time to study and practice Ayurveda. This sister science to yoga, a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary system, has been used for thousands of years to harmonize health and vitality on an individual, collective and environmental level.
Ubiquity University, in partnership with The Dancing Shiva School of Ayurveda and Yoga, is delighted to offer this graduate program. We recommend that you begin your program with Ubiquity’s Creative Journey to Dissertation course, which will give you the tools to shape, and eventually write, your thesis or dissertation. You’ll then complete your core program with Dancing Shiva, and return to Ubiquity for the higher education elements of the program.
There are two routes to the higher education credential: The Ayurveda Counselor Program Certification (600 hours) and the Ayurveda and Yoga Certification (250 hours). Ayurveda Counseling Certification
(600 hrs)
Students who have enrolled in or completed Dancing Shiva’s 600 hour Ayurveda Counseling Program (ACP) Certification will be eligible to pursue graduate degrees in Integral Ayurveda.
Based on the pioneering work of Dancing Shiva Founder Mas Vidal, this course provides education on the core principles of Ayurveda, consistent with the standards taught in the first two years at Ayurvedic Universities across India. The scope of the program is broad because the curriculum includes wisdom from Ayurveda and its sister sciences, Yoga, Jyotish (Vedic astrology), Vaastu (original Feng Shui) and Vedanta, the premier philosophy of India’s spiritual heritage.
The program supports lifestyle enhancement through improvement of one’s own mind-body relationship. Students and participants are encouraged to apply disciplines related to Ayurvedic daily and seasonal routines, along with a strong emphasis on positive psychology as per the Yoga and Vedanta teachings.
The ACP provides a well-rounded educational experience in Ayurveda’s fundamental principles that embraces counseling, therapeutics, herbology, diet, lifestyle, and an introduction to Ayurveda’s clinical application as per classes and internship at India’s eminent Ayurvedic University, D.Y. Patil University (DPU).
The program also includes a 15-day intensive that takes place at our affiliate Institutes in Pune, India.
Those who complete the 600 hour Ayurveda Counselor Program (ACP) offered by the Dancing Shiva School will be able to counsel clients towards a life of health and wellness, namely to:
- Determine a person’s constitution (prakriti) and imbalances (vikriti).
- Learn to acquire notes and intake a client’s health history.
- Recommend dietary changes according to the principles of Ayurveda.
- Recommend daily and seasonal yoga and Ayurveda practices.
- Recommend the application and use of herbs, spices and superfoods.
- Give counseling on improving one’s mind-body relationship.

Ayurveda and Yoga Certification
(250 hrs)
Students who have enrolled in or completed the 250 hour Yoga and Ayurveda Certification will be eligible for graduate degrees in Yoga and Ayurveda.
This special 250 hour program provides a comprehensive education through a well-balanced yoga practice and Ayurvedic lifestyle and strongly adheres to an experiential approach to learning.
Philosophical teaching is typically demonstrated through exercises and rituals, drawn from The Dancing Shiva School of Ayurveda and Yoga faculty’s many years of experience. Each day is equally divided into yoga asana practicum and wisdom lectures as well as daily group meditations. Students learn to practice yoga and create a lifestyle according to what is best for their dosha type (body-mind constitution).
One of the most important themes of the program is based on the principle of individuality. By learning to adapt to a lifestyle routine and yoga practice that is unique to your specific needs or mind-body type, it encourages the student to be creative and dynamic as they develop naturally into a teacher.
The course also serves to prepare a person how to teach others. You will learn not just asana (postures), but an integral approach to yoga that includes other components such as breath-work, mantra and meditation and knowledge of Ayurvedic principles. This program provides for a truly holistic approach to teaching or becoming a yoga and Ayurveda wellness counselor.
The program is offered on an annual basis in southern California and other affiliate locations in USA, Mexico, and Asia.
Those who complete this Ayurveda and Yoga certification will:
- Acquire a unique certification that can bring a distinct specialty to your work, yoga teaching or new health and wellness career.
- Graduates will have the option to register with 3rd party organizations like the Yoga Alliance.
- Learn an approach to yoga that is based on ancient wisdom disseminated from the lineages of enlightened masters.
- Create a successful and meaningful approach to life based on the three tenants of the Vedic teachings: Commitment, Concentration and Consistency.
- Help others by giving counseling suggestions on Ayurvedic diet, herbs, lifestyle routines and how to integrate yoga into every part of life.
- Apply the wisdom of tri-dosha (vata-air, pitta-fire & kapha-water) into yoga postures, breath-work and meditation.

The Ubiquity Graduate Degree
The Ubiquity Graduate Program combines the US and European designs of graduate programs with a blend of taught learning with research and writing. The thesis or dissertation must demonstrate excellence at every level. It must show awareness of the history of the literature in your particular area; demonstrate careful analysis and understanding of the field in question; and, most importantly, show how your insight can be applied to the real world. The dissertation must be scholarly and utilize extensive bibliographical data and footnotes. It should, in other words, be an impeccable work of research.
The Creative Journey To Dissertation
It is a 1-week intensive designed by our Dean of Graduate Studies Dr. Gyorgyi Szabo. The course is a critical part of the dissertation writing process and is a requirement for all MA/PhD candidates.
Faculty: Gyorgyi Szabo
