About The Program

The Synthesis Institute is a leading psychedelic education and training organization dedicated to training the next generation of ethical psychedelic practitioners. What sets this program apart is its experiential foundation drawn from firsthand experience facilitating over 1,000 legal and professionally guided group and individual psychedelic journeys.

Those who wish to pursue postgraduate degrees in Interdisciplinary Psychedelic Care will first need to successfully complete The Synthesis Institute’s comprehensive digital and experiential training programs, which include:

The 13-Month Psychedelic Practitioner Core Training

A 13-month educational journey designed for professionals from diverse backgrounds who seek to develop the competencies required to provide ethical and professional psychedelic care within a safe, compassionate, culturally competent, and somatically-aware container. This program provides a well-rounded foundation that is research-backed, wisdom-rich, somatically-informed, and heart-centered. The Core Training is framed within our four-lens pedagogy which honors many ways of knowing, including embodied wisdom, cognitive wisdom, relational wisdom, and sacred wisdom.

The Immersion Apprenticeship Program

The Synthesis Institute recognizes the essential role that firsthand experience plays in training effective psychedelic practitioners. This transformative 7-week program is designed to foster an immersive connection with the power of psilocybin guided by ‘The Synthesis Way’—our unique retreat facilitation style developed over 7 years and with over 1,000 journeyers. This comprehensive program includes 3 weeks of preparation, a 5-8 day psychedelic supported-retreat featuring 2-3 psilocybin ceremonies, and 3 weeks of integration.

The 1-Year Practicum Program

Practicum serves as the culmination of the participants’ training journey and follows the completion of Immersion Level 2. It provides hands on, real-time experiences aimed at applying the knowledge gained from the core training into real-world concepts.

We recommend that you begin your program with Ubiquity’s Creative Journey to Dissertation, which will give you the tools to shape, and eventually write, your thesis or dissertation. You will then return to The Synthesis Institute for the core program.

The Ubiquity Graduate Degree

The Ubiquity Graduate Program combines the US and European designs of graduate programs with a blend of taught learning with research and writing. The thesis or dissertation must demonstrate excellence at every level. It must show awareness of the history of the literature in your particular area; demonstrate careful analysis and understanding of the field in question; and, most importantly, show how your insight can be applied to the real world. The dissertation must be scholarly and utilize extensive bibliographical data and footnotes. It should, in other words, be an impeccable work of research.

The Creative Journey to Dissertation -
Finding Your Voice, Making your Mark

The “Creative Journey to Dissertation” is a 1-week intensive designed by our Dean of Graduate Studies Dr. Gyorgyi Szabo. The course is a critical part of the dissertation writing process and is a requirement for all MA/PhD candidates.

Support during your Graduate Program

During your graduate dissertation writing you will be supported by a Major Advisor of your own choosing, as well as optional writing courses and writing mentorship.
