Global Men’s Summit 2021
Re-Imagining Masculinity for a Post-Patriarchal World
Convened by Lion Goodman and Jim Garrison
THE FIERCE URGENCY OF NOW
We stand on a razor’s edge – between the destruction of civilization and an enlightened world that works for everyone.
Where do we stand as men? And what are we, as men, standing for?
The Global Men’s Summit will explore the issues that confront us as men as we explore both the roots of the old forms of masculinity, and the fruits of new forms we are cultivating.
We are in-gathering speakers and experts who are contributing to a new vision of men, manhood, and masculinity. We will discuss a wide range of important issues and bring a variety of perspectives and opinions to the conversation.
Patriarchy, hierarchy, autocracy and oligarchy have been the driving forces of power for thousands of years. How did it become coercive and exploitive? Why did a select group of men rise to power through the use of domination, exploitation and control?
What is our role as men to reverse those patterns and forge a new world?
If we are to model different attitudes and behaviors, what can we do now to bend the arc of the future toward a world that has evolved beyond patriarchy? How can we facilitate and midwife the shift?
Every new movement creates a natural push-back, an immune response to the growth of imaginal cells. Those who are advantaged by the old system resist changing the system that has brought them privilege. Can we create a vision that is so much better than the previous system that the old way simply falls away?
Our current system is born from historical, cultural and transgenerational traumas. The suffering it has generated, and the response to that suffering, has informed and shaped both masculinity and femininity.
How can we heal the traumas of the past and create a better future? How can we educate and awaken ourselves while awakening our fathers, brothers, sons, and all of our relations?
Can we shape a new world by returning to virtues and values that create happiness and flourishing for ALL people?
What does a world beyond patriarchy look like? And how can we create it?
Join us in November as we discuss these, and other critical topics.
